What is BUNGEE FITNESS?

In a Bungee Fitness class, participants wear a padded harness attached to ceiling-mounted bungee cords. These bungee stations are safety rated from 90-225 lbs. This setup enables a high-intensity, low-impact workout, reducing joint stress by 50-70%. 

This low-impact cardio workout involves flying and diving movements, engaging core and legs. Bungee is all level friendly, and all skills can be modified to your needs.

You might consider bungee fitness if you have ever wondered what it's like to work out sans gravity or feel like you are walking with trampolines on your feet. Bungees are stretchy, bouncy bands that attach to the ceiling and are harnessed to your waist. The cords create a resistance that forces you to recruit various muscle groups to work against it. The bungees will try to pull you up into the air, creating a resistance for you to work against.

Are bungee workouts effective? This low-impact cardio exercise works your entire body and helps with weight loss, muscle toning, coordination, balance, mobility and cardio health. Plus, you may find the novelty of moving your body with a bungee to be fun, which may encourage you to keep at it.

Can Anyone Do a Bungee Workout? Bungee workouts provide a great foray into fitness. These exercises are beneficial for anyone looking to do low-impact exercises that are easy on the joints. The bungees remove the pressure you usually put on vulnerable joints when using weights, running, or doing high-intensity workouts. However, it's important to follow the instructions of a knowledgeable teacher. A trained instructor adjusts the harness to each person individually. People who are pregnant or have a recent injury or surgery should avoid bungee fitness unless instructed by their doctor.

Weight Restrictions Most bungee harness classes have a weight restriction. At Dragonfly Bungee, the weight limit is 225 pounds. The max measurements are 46 inches for the waist and 26.3 inches for the leg loop. Talk to an instructor in advance if you have any concerns.

Older Adults Older adults might find that using bungees helps restore bone and muscle mass and strength. You lose bone and muscle as you age, which affects your stability and puts you at increased risk for falls. Muscle-strengthening exercises help preserve and build strength.

What To Expect in a Bungee Workout Class

Understanding the basics of using bungees and how to perform exercises safely is essential. Many bungee workout studios have mandatory starter courses for beginners. You'll learn some basic techniques on how to execute exercises correctly. Dragonfly Bungee Fitness runs 45 minutes to an hour. Be prepared for many dance-inspired exercises and explosive movements, including jumping and running. Typical exercises include squats, lunges, push-ups, planks, and crunches. Keep in mind that the bungees add a twist to those classic bodyweight moves. Burpees are actually fun in bungee!!!

For example, Bungee Fit classes have more advanced bungee skills incorporating weights and leg bands to help you reach specific fitness goals like muscle toning & strength. Bungee Skills class focuses on advancing your skill level while working on cardio health, stamina and endurance.
